What a superb day out we had at Shrewsbury Jail! Meeting at Tile Hill Station, we hopped onto the West Midlands train service into Birmingham New Street before making a quick transfer to board a shiny new train to Shrewsbury. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the stunning old architecture of Shrewsbury Station, which set the perfect tone for our adventure. A short five-minute walk brought us to the impressive prison, basking in glorious sunshine. Inside, we kicked off our visit with exhilarating escape rooms set in the historic cells. Following that, we embarked on a guided tour, delving into the fascinating routines and processes of prison life. We learned about the prison's evolution over time and the impactful reforms that have transformed the inmate experience, making for a day that was both thrilling and enlightening.
